EFISC-GTP: practical industry experience at the basis of the standard

EFISC-GTP is supported by sector-specific risk assessments developed by leading European industry associations, ensuring scientifically robust risk management and consistent application across the entire feed and food supply chain, from initial processing of raw materials to trading and distribution.

FEDIOL

FEDIOL, the EU vegetable oil and proteinmeal industry association, represents the interests of the European oilseed crushers, vegetable oil refiners and bottlers.

FEDIOL members are 10 national associations and associated company members in 7 other EU countries. With about 180 facilities in Europe, the sector provides 20,000 direct employments. Its members process approximately 55 million tonnes of commodities a year, both of EU origin and imported from third country markets. The sector crushes oilseeds, notably rapeseed, sunflower seed, soybeans and linseed into oils and meals and refines those crude oils from crushing and crude tropical oils, notably palm oil, palm kernel oil and coconut oil. The meals and the crude and refined oils are sold for food, feed, technical and energy uses essentially on the European market.

Strach Europe

The European Starch Industry Association, Starch Europe, is the trade association which represents the interests of the EU starch industry both at European and international level. Its membership comprises 28 EU starch producing companies, together representing more than 95% of the EU starch industry, and, in associate membership, 6 national starch industry associations.

MISSION: The European Starch Industry Association, Starch Europe, represents the interests of the EU starch industry both at European and international level, with the aim of ensuring a continued safe, high-quality and sustainable supply of starch-based ingredients, plant-based proteins and fibres, in a fair and competitive environment.

EBB

The EBB is the association for companies producing biodiesel (HVO and FAME) in the EU. The EBB has been the authoritative voice of the biodiesel industry since its foundation in 1997.

EBB represents biodiesel producers using all feedstocks: food/feed crops, waste, residues, and other innovative biogenic materials. Biodiesel is used primarily as a substitute for fossil fuels in transport, but production forms part of a value chain generating co-products such as food, feed, biochemicals and biopolymers.

Role is to ensure that industry’s voice is heard in the EU legislative and policy debate, while keeping EBB members informed of key trends and developments relevant to the sector.

Vision is of a flourishing European Biodiesel industry in a thriving decarbonised European economy.

Mission is to shape a European operating environment conducive to long-term growth and a sustainable future.
Key priority is to maximise EBB contribution to European transport decarbonisation.

EUROMALT

EUROMALT is the trade association of the malting industry in Europe. Established in 1959, it represents and promotes the interests of the European malting industry at EU and international levels, including issues affecting the supply chain, the manufacturing, distribution and trade of malt.

EUROMALT was founded in 1959 and is present in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

EUROMALT represents and promotes the interests of the European malting industry at EU and international levels. It assists maltsters to source their raw materials and to manufacture, distribute and market their products in a sustainable way.

COCERAL

COCERAL is the European association of trade in cereals, oilseeds, rice, pulses, olive oil, oils and fats, animal feed and agrosupply.
It represents the interests of the European collectors, traders, importers, exporters and port silo storekeepers of the above-mentioned agricultural products.

COCERAL members represent some 3000 companies who trade agricultural raw materials destined to the supply of the food and feed chains, as well as for technical and energy uses, and operate at every step of the agri supply chain.

  • 18 national trade associations
  • Associate members: AIC (UK), VSGF (Switzerland), UNISTOCK – agri commodities port silos
  • 18 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK
  • Extraordinary member : GAFTA
  • 14 Corporate members: ADM, Ameropa, Bunge, Cargill, Cefetra, CHS Inc, Copenhagen Merchants, Interfeed, InVivo, LDC, R&H Hall, Schepens & Co, Vanden Avenne Commodities, Zitni Terminals.

Trade plays a vital role in the supply chain moving agricultural commodities from areas of surplus to areas of deficit efficiently and at affordable prices. This is a strategic contribution of global trade towards enhancing food security worldwide.

benefits of certification

A management system that complies with EU legislation and market requirements

EFISC-GTP certification confirms that a company has implemented a feed and food ingredient safety management system that complies with European legislation, including:

• Feed Hygiene Regulation (EC) No. 183/2005
• Food Hygiene Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004

The standard is based on a risk-based approach (HACCP, process control, supplier control, traceability) and confirms the company's ability to systematically ensure product safety in the international supply chain.

EFISC-GTP is used a risk-based approach and ensures strict and reliable control of product safety indicators through the application of modern control methods.

Laboratory tests are carried out in laboratories accredited to ISO 17025:2005. These may be either the companies’ own laboratories or local state and/or private contractors. The main requirement is the possession of the specified accreditation in accordance with the aforementioned standard for the relevant field of activity.

This approach guarantees a high level of reliability in safety control at all stages of the supply chain, whilst optimising resources through collaboration with local organisations.
